Build Fences: Set Boundaries on your Available Time
Imagine that your day starts with a completely blank calendar page. Every hour is discretionary. You have now entered the Twilight Zone, and if you are familiar with this classic sci-fi TV show, you’ll know that the events are often disturbing. An unboundaried calendar is a dangerous thing, and when partnered with mobile devices that allow 24/7 access, will most likely lead to a frenetic life where future goals and priorities are abandoned in favor of the urgencies of the present.
Picture a 24-acre parcel of land. Building appropriate boundaries around your time starts with fencing in your work and non-work hours. The first fenced-in area is your work yard – the primary block of time where your focus and presence is directed toward work. How many acres/hours will you fence in for that?
Are you ready to feel balanced and effective at work and in life?
